"Vayulink" platform
Indian Air Force has developed an innovative solution "Vayulink" that would aid pilots in dealing with bad weather and also provide jammer-proof uninterrupted communication with the base station.
The data link communication uses the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) that is also known as NAVIC, to send radio communication to the base station when the signals are low.

India's First Frozen-Lake Marathon
The Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh will host the first-ever frozen lake marathon in February 2023.
Pangong Lake is the world's highest saltwater lake spanning eastern Ladakh and West Tibet. It is 134 km long and divided into five sublakes, called Pangong Tso, Tso Nyak, Rum Tso and Nyak Tso.
Don't Choose Extinction
The "Don't Choose Extinction" campaign, launched by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) has won Gold and Silver in two different categories at the 2nd Annual Anthem Awards.
This was announced by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Science (IADAS), which was launched by the Webby Awards in 2021.
Smart Cities Mission get June 2023 deadline
The deadline for completing projects under the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) was extended for all 100 participating cities to June 2023.
Announced in 2015, the SCM was conducted as a competition with cities being selected from 2016 to 2021.
The cities were given five years to complete the projects under the mission, with the first set of Smart Cities expected to complete in 2021.
Smart Cities Mission (SCM) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to transform 100 cities to provide the necessary core infrastructure and clean and sustainable environment through the application of "Smart Solutions".
Key focus areas of the scheme include construction of walkways, pedestrian crossings, cycling tracks, efficient waste-management systems, integrated traffic management and assessment.
The scheme also assesses various indices - the Ease of Living Index, Municipal Performance Index, City GDP framework, Climate Smart Cities assessment framework, etc.
What is "Jal Jan Abhiyan" ?
PM Modi inaugurated the Jal Jan Abhiyan virtually on Abu Road in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan.
Jal-Jan Abhiyan, jointly run by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI and the Brahma Kumaris organization, is a positive initiative towards water conservation to save humans and humanity.
Dharma Guardian 2023
India and Japan has kick started an exercise "Ex Dharma Guardian" at Camp Imazu in Shiga Province, Japan.
This will be the 4th edition of the Exercise and it will strengthen bilateral ties.
