Exercise 'Surya Kiran'

India and Nepal began a 15-day military exercise in Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand with a focus on counter-terror drills and disaster relief operations.


Customs notified airport

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has declared Kushinagar Airport (Uttar Pradesh) as a Customs notified airport.

With this, the airport will be able to handle international passenger movements as well.

The Kushinagar airport is an international airport spread across an area of 600 acres.

MP Baijayant Panda committee

The Ministry of Defence has constituted a high-level expert committee, under the chairmanship of former MP Baijayant Panda, for a comprehensive review of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in order to make it more relevant in changed times.

Former Team India captain MS Dhoni and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra are among the members part of the Committee.

The committee will suggest measures to empower NCC cadets to contribute more effectively towards nation building.


Prof. S.K. Joshi Laboratory Excellence Award

Quality Council of India (QCI) launched the Prof. S.K. Joshi Laboratory Excellence Award amidst eminent dignitaries from Government & Industry.

This is country's first-of-its-kind Laboratory Excellence Award.

This Award has been instituted to promote Laboratory Quality and performance improvement in the country.

Late Prof. S.K. Joshi was a luminary in the field of Science and Academica.

Prof. Joshi made a significant contribution in improving scientific research in India by serving as President-INSA, D--CSIR, Director-NPL and Chairman-NABL.

Prof. Joshi was felicitated with Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, CV Raman Medal of INSA and several other prestigious awards.

There are three Trophies (Gold, Silver, Bronze) in each category of Laboratory (Testing, Medical and Calibration) accompanied with cash award.

The 5 stages of assessment by Technical Expert Committee (TEC) are Application Document Evaluation, Physical/Virtual Presentation, Site Assessment/Verification, Reference check and Jury evaluation.
